We are sorry that you are having a problem accessing the research databases.  

If you attempt and fail to log in three times, you will be temporarily locked out of your account. Wait 20 minutes before you try again. Too many failures will require a password reset.

Troubleshooting:

  • Double check your log in information. It is the same user name and password you use to log into Blackboard. 
  • When logging into OpenAthens, use only the username portion of your email address (everything to the left of the @ symbol). Example: for a user with the email address l.b.brooks1938@spartans.nsu.edu, the username would be l.b.brooks1938.
  • Don't rely on an auto-populated, saved password, it may be out of date. Type your password in.
  • Try a different browser and make sure your browser is up-to-date.
  • Clear your browser cache, cookies, and history:
  • Double check for any pop-up blockers or firewalls that might be interfering with access.
  • Try restarting your computer.
  • If your account becomes locked due to too many failed login attempts, you will need to contact the Office of Information Technology to reset your account:
